Prior to Idrizraele-Karselridrith-Aghazstahm conquering all of Xarsas, the entire continent was divided up among various powers. Figures such as King Ordono Acecha Octurnes, the only known Verdajo monarch, the sorcerer queens and warlock kings that made up the Houses of Sand and Sun, the rulers of the Beastlands such as Swift Hunt, Mountain Breaker, and Steelbeak, plus many others.
In the year 2531 PDU, Idrizraele-Karselridrith-Aghazstahm, the blue dragon praviteldrakonov, landed in the small desert of Qublat’alshams and completely destroyed the warlock kings of Daw'alshams Spire. Over the next 100 years, Idrizraele-Karselridrith-Aghazstahm terraformed the center of Xarsas into a much larger desert. During the terraforming, Idrizraele-Karselridrith-Aghazstahm gathered supporters, created his Dragon Knights, and crushed all opposition.
In the year 2431 PDU, Idrizraele-Karselridrith-Aghazstahm has successfully conquered Xarsas, established the Houses of Dragon, and banned wizardry from the continent as he ascended to Lightning Lord
The Houses of Dragon are the 5 ruling houses, all under the watchful eye of the Lightning Lord. Territory is split up between the 5 houses, each with its own specialty in economics, imports/exports, and general ruling ideology.

Dragon Knights
Dragon Knights are the highest tier of command in Xarsas, save for the Lightning Lord himself. They are mortals who have been gifted powers by the Lightning Lord with legends saying that a single Dragon Knight can take down an army.

While there are some notable conflicts such as the Wizard War, the Dragon Knight’s Hubris, the Song of Thousandteeth, and the more recent rise of resistance with a group called the Iron Coalition, Xarsas saw a few thousand years of relative peace.
While the Lightning Lord ruled with an iron claw, he did protect what was his. Any foreign invasions were dealt with quickly, tensions between Houses of Dragon were dealt with either by a Dragon Knight or the Lightning Lord themselves, natural disasters were either prevented or sent aid to quickly repair damage, and so forth.
After the reveal of the Draconic Conspiracy and failure of the Scaled Usurpation during 244 DU relationships between dragons and mortal kind deteriorated. Over the following years, most dragons went into hiding save for the Lightning Lord and Mokat.
As tensions started to rise in Xarsas, the Lightning Lord started to hold a tighter grasp on his kingdom. But with a new weapon, firearms, becoming more popular, the increasing strength of the Iron Coalition, and underhanded dealings among the Houses of Dragon, the Lightning Lord set an example.
In 264 DU, House of Dragon Encendis openly declared sovereignty and denounced the Lightning Lord as their ruler. Showing his might, the Lightning Lord led his army and all of his Dragon Knights to the capital city of the Encendis territory. Despite the use of wizardry by Encendis loyalists, the capital city was razed to the ground in 24 hours. The daimyo and leaders were publicly executed to show that no one is above the Lightning Lord.
The Lightning Lord maintains their power in Xarsas, but the storm seems to be waning.
